Traveller, beware! A ghost story from Elgin
Narrated by Frieda Morrison
The oral traditionStories and the spoken word go hand-in-hand with a strong oral tradition being a characteristic of many communities and their approach to sharing culture and heritage. This is particularly true of the north. Hearing a story spoken in the voice or dialect of a community gives it added resonance and power. Some people are natural storytellers in the oral form. It is important to gather the spoken word as well as the written one. This example was collected from former BBC journalist and producer Frieda Morrison about a ghost story in Elgin. |
